Hi,

I bought your debut album in 1980 on a visit to NYC and loved it, though long since lost it in the course of many house moves. Recently I unearthed a cassette tape (remember them) of a compilation I'd made for myself of all my favourite music of that era. Best track on the tape? "Never 2 without 3"... Keep well, from an admirer in the UK.

Hey Carolyn... I heard you weren't playing anymore, but thought would understand what it felt like going back to Asbury Park yesterday...SO... I drove down to Asbury Park (just after my son's (Eli) first piano recital). I think I was more nervous than him. I held my breath thoughout his performance. Thankfully it wasn't a long number. Anyway... back to Asbury. I had mixed feelings on my way down. Asbury Park for me was from another lifetime entirely. I was playing the Stone Pony each Thursday night and lots of Saturdays as an opener in the mid to late 1980's and although I hardly remember specifics...I remember the butterflies and excitement I used to get. I remember the smell of the beach, the seediness of the town, the overrall energy and excitement about new music. I remember being in the eye of the storm when Bruce Springsteen would show up and take the stage after we'd finish our opening set. Seeing Ian Hunter, Mink DeVille, Gary US Bonds,. We even did a show with Jon Bon Jovi. I remember Glen Burtnik holding court and hanging on his every word after a Bar Anticipation gig. I remember being there yet always still feeling like an outsider. One of the very few girls to front or even be in a band. Felt like the "old boys" club. I was also alot younger than the others. I'm also very myopic (near sighted/legally blind) so my sense of the place was in blurred shapes, sounds and smells. Returning there last night filled me with a mix of emotions. I received an email from an emerging artist Christine Martucci who said "you were the shit back in the day", and it made me reflect a bit. I suppose when you're the "shit" you don't realize it. I feel that this is all one big continuum of one long day. Last night was beautiful...warm, clear and alive with music. Every single venue and shop was filled with music and music lovers. I felt real acceptance for the first time in Asbury Pk...and even comfort being part of such energy. I was alone with my guitar, singing my songs, telling my stories and the audience listened. I couldn't have played in a more beautiful spot. Inside the grand old Paramount Theater overlooking the ocean. I was surprised to see Glen Burtnik had come to say "hi" and hear me. My old/young friend Michelle Leone was with me and has been supportive of my music since the early days and there she was with her big bright smile, filming me and hanging. Some things never change...thankfully...

Surprise The Wife

After a few years of married life, this guy finds that he is unable to get it up anymore. He goes to his doctor, his doctor tries a few things but nothing works.

Finally the doctor says to him this is all in your mind, and refers him to a psychiatrist.

After a few visits to the shrink, the shrink confesses I am at a loss as to how you could possibly be cured.

Finally the psychiatrist refers him to a witch doctor.

The witch doctor tells him, I can cure this, and throws some powder on a flame, and there is a flash with billowing blue smoke....

The witch doctor says This is powerful healing but you can only use it once a year All you have to do is say 1 2 3 and it shall rise for as long as you wish

The guy then asks the witch doctor What happens after when its over?.

The witch doctor says all you have to say is 1 2 3 4 and it will go down. But be warned it will not work again for 3 months

This guy goes home and that night is ready to surprise his wife with the good news... So he is lying in bed with her and says 1 2 3, and suddenly he gets a hard-on.

His wife turns over and says What did you say 1 2 3 for ?

Dear Carolyne,

I was a huge fan of yours in the early 80´s and even drove a few hundred miles just to see you live on stage in Mannheim/Germany. Ten years ago I rediscovered your music when I bought your first two albums second hand. Frankly, I don´t know why I sold them anyway. I still love these albums and regularly checked whether they´re available on cd or as mp3s in the internet.
Today I came across your homepage and read about your bad luck music career. It really is a shame but I´m very glad to read that you´ve found a new way to make you (and others) happy. Hats off to what you do today and I wish you all the best and good luck for your new life without music.

Carolyne,
I remember an article in 1979 where you, Ellen Shipley and Ellen Foley were compared together. I discussed that article in ernest with dear friend of mine who was a cute female singer (I was a very bad bassist in a very bad band). We both agreed that you were the best new artist we had heard in quite some time and didn't deserve to be lumped into a lot of "new women artists". I still have the vinyl album that included your kindergarten report card. It's funny the things you remember from parts of life as time goes by.

I just wanted to say thank you. Your first two albums gave me so much enjoyment and confort. I can remember the solice I got from "snow" and I can remember to jump up and down joy I got from "Hold On".

I'm glad I found you on the web and I'm delighted to see that you are still alive and kicking.

I wish you much joy and happiness in your coming years.

I had your original major label release ("Carolyne Mas" on Mercury Records released July 1979) many years ago. It was great. I don't know what happened to my copy of that album. Unfortunately it is out of print now. Next time I'm in NYC I'll check the Calendar link on your website to see if you have any upcoming shows. This website is very well put together ... congrats. Try not to sweat it too much when stupid crap gets put into your guestbook. Just delete it. It is put in there by automated web surfing robot programs. Just like SPAM it is going to happen. -- Love your music Carolyn!

Hi, I got to you site via an Ebay ad. Wow, I think your videos and music are pretty cool. You have wonderful taste in guitars too. I think you have came to far in music to quit all together. I think you should continue to share your gifts with the world- you are that good. I am a drummer who is switching to piano and guitar due to illness.
I have COPD and I can't drum very well. In stead of being bummed out about what I can't do...I am looking at what I still can do. I too had a lot of disappointments in the music business. My experience is somewhat different than your. My journey has taken me to experience the best and the worst. I think there is more good than bad. I wouldn't recommend the life of a musician to a kid though. But if that is on'e calling, why not make the best of it? I learned the hard way, that I am best off keeping the focus off of my expectations and focus on doing a good job; while having the most fun that I can. Wow, did things change. You are a really great musician, just find the fun stuff and do that, don't quit all together. DON'T QUIT BEFORE A MIRACLE HAPPENS. Your dedication to animal resuce is really super. We need more people in the world like you! I don't know if you are spiritual or not. But all things are possible through faith. God Bless you in all your efforts- a fan always.

Bernd...the "conditional" love that I refer to is the one that the music business bestows upon artists only as long as they see fit...as long as you are "hot" and they feel that they can profit the most from you...or the accolades that journalists shower upon artists whom they want to be credited with "discovering", or when they want to be part of a trend and not appear to be un-hip, or to get into the right circles and the right shows for free. It is precisely this kind of love that I despise, because it is disingenuous and comes at a price, and can make or break the livelihood of an artist. No-one should have that kind of control...and look what hoops artists have to jump through just to be noticed, to get a few crumbs of respect...it's like something out of a circus...it's undignified. Why should anyone have to stoop so low just for a bit of attention and gratitude? When did doing a good job stop being enough?

I have always loved my audiences...they are the people that the record companies I was signed to knew the least about...there was always a huge gap between how the record companies perceived me as an artist, and how the audiences did. They were always trying to look at a house from the inside so to speak, never stepping outside to get the big picture. I had little respect from them as an artist because of this. I have actually been signed to labels where the people working there had never been to a show. How is this possible, especially since my live shows were so well received? How could they have been making life and death decisions about my music for me without ever having seen me play?

One has only to look at the tabloids to see what this business does to artists, how they are created and disposed of all in the turn of a page. I can't even begin to list the ways in which this environment is harmful and so completely unhealthy for any person to be around. It makes the love of a dog or cat seem like something holy, which in fact, it is. It took me a while to realize this, after I was done examining myself over and over again, thinking that the problem was with me...I realized that it was the "life"....and that it really had so little to do with reality, and the things that are truly important.

Carolyne,

I'm sorry to hear that the joy you once found in your music has all gone. However you feel about the music business now - I never had the impression the energy and love you gave us in your songs and records was in any way "conditional". I will appreciate it as long a I live. And I'm sure you'll do a great job in whatever you do now.

Always a big fan

"AWESOME!" said one female friend who recently listened to one of your live CDs. "Terrific woman, how come I've never heard of her before? Terrific backing band, too." Well, so it goes. I make CD copies and give them to people as birthday presents and such. Then they come back wanting more. Well, what does it mean? Hold on to your guitars...

The are 2 more chords in the bridge!

I heard this song in the 70's without knowing anything about Carolyne. It was a miracle: how could one so little known be able to play such great music? The personality that shined out of this and other songs only through her voice & music (I saw Carolyne first on the website) had more appeal than many others.

Dear Guestbook
some days ago we were wallowing in old times and remembered a disc jockey who was our favourite one. There were three special songs which run every time without ever getting boring and one of them was Sitting In The Dark.
Now I looked for it and found this page and the comment "I still cannot understand or explain its immense popularity". Maybe I can try to explain a bit. As a German I cannot speak for all Europeans (not even for all Germans) but I'd say this song was a kind of In A Gadda Davida for the next generation. So full of music. Fascinating what can be made out of only two chords. And then this guitar solo. Not a boring appending of any Chuck Berry riffs but a song in the song touching from the very beginning, leading one blindly through a climax.
It all gives you the feeling that this song wasn't made but that it -so to say- happened.

I first heard "Snow" when it came out at the end of the seventies, when I was in Troy, NY. I immediately loved the song, and as far as I'm concerned it's a classic. Then came "Still Sane", also wonderful, which I'd forgotten was a Carolyne Mas tune. "It's No Secret" must not have been given a lot of airplay, so it's a recent discovery, now one of my favorites.

It's a shame that you couldn't make money from the music - those songs from the late seventies/eighties still sound as vibrant now as they did then. There'd have to be a strong demand for them.

No matter, I think "Living well is the best revenge" is the best operative principle.

Maybe funny: As we plan to cover your in Germany so famous song "Sittin...." I transcribed chords and lyrics and arranged it for my band www.groovin-stew.de. Last week we tried out the song for the first time and our singer came up to me and asked if I found the lyrics in the net or if wrote down what I understood from what you sang. It was the latter. She convinced me that "Come on out with your plans up" is more correct that my version "Come on out with your pants up"

No offens, best regards.

I remember the best concert Ihave ever been to: Carolyne MAs at York University in Toronto in 1981. I will never forget being at the front of the stage with a dozen others and we are all singing "Quote goodbye quote that's all he wrote" repeatedly into the mic with Carolyne as she sang the lead. To this day I cannot think of this without smiling and getting a shiver down my spine. Thanks for the memory.

In response to the Muenster gig, I had to cancel for a combination of reasons. What started out as my husband not feeling safe about me travelling because of the fear of something happening in Bush's new world, ended up evolving into a family situation, where I had to help my mother move from her home of 18 years, to a new place next door to us. It was a year of family situations for me, and I had to cancel 2 tours, both in Italy and Germany.

Maybe next year...who knows, but I do not have any plans to play at this point in time. I am wondering if those days are gone for me, because there always seems to be something at home going on that has to take a front seat in my life. Family first, you know.

Hi Carolyne,
much to my regret the Muenster Gig in Autumn was cancelled or, perhaps more accurate, its 'tba' announcement was deleted. Could you tell us what happend? Is there a chance for a new approach? Germany is starving for CM.

Ever heard of the club www.spiritof66.be in Vervier, Belgium near the German Border? I have been there recently, it's a nice and wellknown place with an impressive "Hall of Fame". Thought that this might be a good place for you to play.

Hi Carolyne,
this eveneing i send you this email. But the email returned with the remark, that your mailbox is full. Please see my email here:

Hi Carolyne,

you are right with your remark of teaching left-handed kids. It seems
to works well, and if i think about it, it seem to be absolutely clear.
But i never had got this solution for my own. Thank you.
Carolyne, a few days ago i asked you for the chords of your great
song "Snow". This evening i played the song to my band, and everyone
loved it. Except Micha our drummer. He said "I can not play that slow".
It was meant as a joke, he also loves the song.
And when i said that i wrote a mail to you, and got an answer, he was
stunned and asked if i mean the musician and songwriter he knows as
Carolyne Mas. He could not believe that you give me an answer to my
mail.
You see, you are still a great star.

Warmest Regards

Det

PS:
You are not only a star for making music and being famous. You are
a star for your engagement for the people.

Carolyne

September 24, 2007

Easier said than done...I tried that in 1991 when my former manager contacted an old friend named Mary Martin, who had been a very important person w/Warner Bros in the 80's in NYC, and then went into country. This was after my CD, "Action Pact", a country CD basically, released in Germany on SPV. She basically said in a nutshell that I waan't country enough, that one has to spend time in Nashville to cultivate that sort of sensibility. I was living in Germany at the time.

When I did move to Nashville in 1997, I encountered the same resistance. I did not LOOK like a country singer, nor did I sound like a real one, nor did I write in the style that the writers there were writing. I was pounded into submission more than a few times there. One guy named R.C. Bannon, who had written some songs for famous people, and allowed me to submit some things to him when he was looking for a new co-writer as a staff writer for BMG, told me that all of my songs were awful...and I gave him my best stuff!!! He berated me for an hour on the phone, but I must say, I took it like a lady AND like a man. That place is locked up tight to outsiders, and it's an impossible clique to break into. There were so many pretty young singers, and lots of people to provide songs for them, and it was just as plastic a scene as one could imagine. Not room for much innovation.

It would have been nice to have success in any gendre, even as a songwriter. My lack thereof has only mystfied me, especially since I appear to have so many fans. All I would like at this point in my life is a little nod from music history as being in some ways a unique artist, certainly ahead of my time. Of course, royalties would be nice if only someone would pick up on my songs...and I sure would like to be able to record another CD at some point. But I wouldn't sell my soul to do it!

Bruce

September 17, 2007

I whole heartedly agree Tom! And I didn't mean to shove you into a neat little "Country only" box Carolyne. My comment was meant to express how truly rich your voice is. Your voice is one of the most superb "instruments" I've heard in a long time and is capable creating awe in any genre it's applied to; however capable does not always equate to profitable in this world of marketing. That being said Carolyne, with Country the way it is today I think you could be true to yourself and your fans AND bust the doors of Country music wide open!

tom

September 13, 2007

at the risk of hogging too much space & time here, i feel i'd like to say to bruce, who just commented on carolyne's patsy cline=ish qualities below, that WHILE i'd hate to see carolyne "go country" i would wish her every success and COULD easily visualise her as some kind of country music queen. just give a listen to "i want him to (marry me)" and tell me if that couldn't come out of a hundred juke boxes -- provided it was done again with some of those faultless nashville cats adding a few gratuitous guitar licks to make the thing radio compatible. and so -- on through a whole lot of those tracks, where carolyne sings in a pure joan baezish mode. then, later, super rich, driving down from her mansion, the country queen revisits the blues, the rock & rolls and all those other ingredients of her very special gumbo, and just once more & for the benefit of her real old fans -- cooks up some fine raucous ROCK again, with great muzos all around stirring the pot. ah what a dream.

Bruce Hershberger

September 11, 2007

I've been a rocker since before FM radio existed and I had never heard of you until I was doing an I-Tunes search a couple months ago for "Sleepwalk" and ran accross your version. It has since been placed in "My All-time Favs" category. Your voice is transcendental in that song. Needless to say, I've since become a fan. If you ever chose to do a tribute album to Patsy Cline, I'd probably swear that you were her, reincarnated up to the next level of vocal perfection! Rock on Carolyne!

Carolyne!

Your comments of 7/22 on your homepage about politics/music resonated so deeply with me. You are a rare individual on many levels and you have absolutely succeeded in being a HUMAN BEING of the highest order...I am proud to have all your music and to be associated with your name in any capacity.

I've been dealing with much personal hardship most of this year and I just wanted to let you know how much your words moved me to want to write this post.

Always,

Ross

Stefan, you are misunderstanding me. I have great memories of Muenster, and it was certainly not the fault of Jovel that I was in that situation. The amp was rented by my manager, the monitor mix guy was hired by him, and the contracts to record the performance were all signed by him as well. And I am the idiot who signed with HIM in the first place!

I am in no way putting down Jovel or Muenster at all. I always had a good time in the city, and we always atayed at the same hotel. We played there for 2 days in a row at some small club in 1989, and that was a lot of fun, too. I still have my key from the hotel, because I liked it so much. It was the Hotel Conti. Just a small, charming place.

And Tom...I think it's hard for people to understand how frustrating it is for someone to have their albums so highly regarded, yet not make a single penny from them. It is uncanny that I have never been able to make a living off of my work. While it's lovely to think of all of the people enjoying them for years to come, to know that someone else has made money from my recordings is unbearable. It's downright criminal.

Stefan

July 26, 2007

Hi! Even if your memories of my hometown Münster and the Jovel aren t that great, I can tell you that there are still lots of people who remember you and really love your songs. And for me - whenever i need a cheer up i turn on "Thomas Dunson..." and everything looks a bit brighter. So thank you for the music!

I saw you play in Albany, NY back in the 1980's. I was completely amazed.
I have wondered for years what has become of you, and I am relieved to know that you are still involved in music. I hope I get the chance to see you play again soon.

July 4, 2007

Well, here i am checking in, by a mere coincidence, on the fourth of july. What i’d have to say though, carolyne, is that, sad and sorry as the tale may be, the MUSIC itself is still gloriously wired up, pumping with life and energy, so that both those albums, MAS HYSTERIA and LIVE!, count as two of the greatest live albums ever, in my book. And I’m talking here as a lifelong live little feat fan and mick taylor’s live rolling stones fan and all of that. Live recordings have a curious way about them – think of the benny goodman concert of 1938, at carnegie hall, where the original recordings (done in duplicate!) disappeared for 60 years. (benny goodman never even knew -- throughout his entire life -- that the second set of discs existed…!) the stones’ excellent 72 and 73 live recordings in Europe and America have been bootlegged heaps but for some reason – which I imagine are contractual reasons – have never been officially released. And this goes on and on. Even so, you’d be amiss in turning your back entirely on your own past – those are glorious musical moments, whichever way they were achieved. I heard a car bopping down the road the other day with its loudspeakers up at full volume and they were playing – young kids – bill haley’s “rock around the clock”, and the car was practically electric with energy. Now who gives a shit, now, today, about how bill haley felt about that song when he recorded it 50 years ago? (he thought it stank.) it’s gonna live forever. And I’m willing to wager that your live recordings of the past are likely to hang around for a long while yet, in just the same way. I’m only very seriously hoping that there will be more – great songs, that you can record under more auspicious circumstances, and with a more felicitous sound arrangement -- it’s like a serious wish-fulfilment dream that I hope will come true, one of these days. Tomorrow, or pretty damn soon, anyway.
;-))

Carolyne

July 2, 2007

...AND I hve never received a PENNY from any of those CDs, "Mas Hysteria" or "Live."

Carolyne

July 2, 2007

Actually Tom, I would be happy if I never had to play any of those songs ever again! That live double CD was made against my will. My manager there signed with SPV himself as my owner basically. Everything was in German...all of the contracts...I had pretty much just gotten there, and I was an easy victim for a good con. Everyone wanted "Sitting in the Dark" on CD, basically, and this guy wanted to deliver it to SPV, and it was all SPV would ever want from me. They eventually bought up the rights to my whole catalogue, just for Germany, even though they eventually only re-released "Mas Hysteria" in 1996.

FYI the "Live" CD from Jovel Music Hall in Muenster, I sang that whole show without monitors. The wires were actually broken, as the inept monitor mix guy discovered after the show. And the lead guitar player's amp...well let's just say the only good channel on that shitty amp was broken. Both the sax and my guitar had to be redone in a studio in Bremen because the sound was so awful. This album was done without my consent from cover, which looks like I am burning in Hell, to content. They also put David Landau's name on it without his consent, because they thought it would sell records. He had been over a few months earlier to write and record with me, and they were impressed by his lineage. So they took it upon themselves to exploit him. This put a serious wound on our friendship, even though it was not my doing. Not to mention there are spelling errors in the song titles, and they put some kind of bogus fan club address, completely ignoring my fan club that I had back then for years. They also tried to steal my publishing on that CD, and even listed the publisher although no contracts had been signed, but that is another story. I got them on that, and they had to sticker each CD with my fan club's address.

So, you can see now maybe why I want to forget these songs and move on. After all, I am no longer that person anymore. That person was an idiot for having ever gotten into a situation with liars and crooks like them in the first place!!!

tom

July 1, 2007

hiya carolyne -- i bought another version of the double live-CD today --, ie, the SPV 220455-303, from 2001, as opposed to the SPV 086-88642, of 1992 -- as new, for a mere four euros, -- but it is actually a much harder mix than the original -- like a harsher xerox copy of a photograph, sans the grey tones. clearly the germans like their music with the drums way out in front. if i ever get a quarter of a million to fritter away i'd definitely try to get it right, it would give me the greatest pleasure... get you to record all these things again...some place where they'd know a thing or two about subtlety in music...

i told the guy at the record store here in vienna -- "this is a really nice record..." --"ah yeah?" was all he said. total lack of interest. i guess i should have said, "this record is an absolute crock of shit. have you listened to it? how can you sell this kinda crap?" -- he would have gone and played it and said, "what's wrong with it? it's excellent...!"

i'll remember that for my next review. of anybody.

Cheers for now, from

tom

My best friend thru high school and freshman year at college had your debut vinyl album. She brought it over to my dorm room in college so we could dance and drink wine to it. I fell in love with the lyrics, the meoldies, and at times, the intensity. This vinyl album she had was badly scratched. At the time, I also worked at a toy store in Brooklyn, NY during holiday breaks and summers. One day I saw the owner brought in a collection of cut-out albums, and I nearly died when I saw a brand new copy of yours. I bought it and have kept it ever since. My friend and I have parted ways the past year after 25 years of friendship, but we always pulled out that album and played when we got together over the years. I moved out midwest and west from NY, so the distance between my friend I became greater, but the music didn't. We have moved on for other reasons, but I always had a wonderful memory of your music and I used to search music stores for any other materials. I even went on youtube last night and plugged in your name. Well, it just dawned on me to google you online, and I saw this site. Thanks for putting such a warm, personal touch here and I will be sure to download your newest songs when I get home. I guess I am lucky to be "still sane" after all these years. 1979-80 were high school years...great times and the best music ever made. All the best

Merlin's was in 1980. I loved Madison. I played there twice, and there was a really cool vintage clothing store near our hotel.

That particular August, the club had hired an airplane with a scrolling sign on its underbelly to fly over the city advertizing the gig. We waited for it on the rooftop of the hotel. As it flew overhead, I could see my name, only it was spelled wrong...without the "e." The band had quite a laff, because this happened nearly every place we played, despite the fact that the LPs always had my name displayed prominently in 2 inch bold caps.

I hope to go back to that city one day. It was one of my favorite places to visit. Very hip.

I interviewed Carolyn awhile back but it didn't go too well, although she was so very generous with her time and sharing things about her career.
Just the other day I put on three of the CDs the Mercury years and then the Long Isalnad Potao thing and I was blown away once more.
Carolyn you made a sound so pure, so true taht it simply gets better with time.
I'm sorry for all the pain you endured, but so incredibly grateful for the music you have given us.
Peace, Happiness and tranquillity you deserve them all.

In the early80's we had as teenies our first band! Deep Purple, ACDC, Rush and others were our favourites. I remember that evening I#m coming to the Band with Mas Hysteria. It was great. Nobody of us plays anything, we heard teh whole album this evening. The next day we tried to play sittin' in the dark...
Not very succesful, but today, if "the old one's make a session... every time wlir 92.7, the radio station of long island....comes on...
Best regards, Christian

Hi Carolyne!
Many years ago I had a new music radio show on a station in London, Ontario. I was totally in love with your album and you came in for an interview. My show was an hour long and usually I covered a bunch of artists and songs in one show. However, I did one hour just with our interview and your music. I believe you were doing promo for a concert where you were opening for Robert Palmer. I still have the concert poster (which was awesome) but the show cancelled - so I never saw you live. Still love mentioning you when conversations start up about pet favorites - when I find people that also dug you - there is an extra special connection.
So a big hello and thank you after all these years!

About finding lyrices...yeah it's probably better to Google, there is no one major database (and they come and go). And often the lyrics might be found at the artist's site instead.

But when Googling, it's best to put the title in quotes like:

"baby got back" lyrics

Although sometimes they just aren't out there:

snow "carolyne mas" lyrics

:-(

Carolyne

April 16, 2007

I usually have great luck just Googling the song title, and maybe the artist, and I've been able to find some pretty obscure stuff. I don't know the names of any of the databases, I suspect there are a few, because just performing a search per song as needed really did the trick.

I have a lot of fondness for Hazleton and its people, and I was very shocked when I heard it mentioned on the news some months back that they were adopting some sort of extreme policy concerning immigrants. This was odd to me because I remember Hazleton as being a relatively poor town full of Polish and Italian immigrants. The Bush regime has succeeded in drumming up hatred in even the most loving of our communities, and this is just one of the good reasons why I still remain politically active, although I wish that some of that would be directed in a more musical way. I was involed back then (Fall 1974-Summer 1975) with a lot of good people in the area...artists, musicians, writers, poets, and even clergy...who were very politically vocal, and it was very creative and exciting. I am still in touch with some of them, and I miss the kinds of events we used to throw together effortlessly as if by magic. It was a very educational experience for me.
