Hey Carolyne, Well I finally got a new computer so I can finally send you Emails again. Hope all is well with you and your family. Since I last got in touch with you my mom passed away so I know the pain you must have felt losing your loved ones. It hurts! I am still listening to the CDs I recieved from you and am still enjoying them! I especially liked the DVD. It brought back fond memories of the JB Scotts concerts in Albany. I was hoping that once I discovered your website that I might just possibly see you in Concert again , but I guess that it's not in the cards. Thats life! I discovered a real gem of a 45 recently of Phobe Snow singing Baby Please and it's a DJ copy! Your recording is much better in my opinion. Well wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and much better New Year. Send me a line if you get a chance. Until then I remain your fan. God Bless Ray

Too bad it's "Modern Dreams" and not "Modern Dream" as listed. How that could be missed by the people reissuing it is beyond me. It's just as careless as leaving the 'e' off of my first name, which many record stores, the media, and some venues did when I used to perform. People have lost their eye for detail, one would surmise.

My favourite song: Stillsane! But, after all this time I still don't know what the 4th line (?) is, after she sings "Hanging your head on the wall" Can someone mow, after 20 years tell me that line?

I saw you at J.B. Scott's in Albany, N.Y. in the late 70's, I think, and I have never heard a more beautiful song than "Snow", nor sung more beautifully. It was a favorite of my sister and brother-in-law, who just found out he has pancreatic cancer. He is 57. My sister said he just went to the stereo and put on your album with that song and they had a moment of rememberance and love of when they first met. Thank you.

A voice from your past! I am your late godmother's sister. Came across one of your records, believe your first one, and thought of contacting you and found your interesting web page. I have a couple of old pictures of Esperanza with you as a child and wonder if you would be interested on having them. Please say hello to your Mom for me. Your Mom and Dad were matron of honor and best man at my wedding. Keep up the good work. If you wish the pictures, write me an email including your mailing address. All the best to you and your family. Maruja

Hi Carolyne ....
I recently resurrected my 29 yr old stereo to like-new sound and one of the first things I listened to was "Carolyne Mas" - the whole thing - It was sooooo nice to become reacquainted with this great work of yours. I recall at the time Rolling Stone reviewing you as some kind of "Springsteenette" but I don't think Springsteen ever had a song like "Snow" in his repertoire. I was in awe of how that song came out of nowhere on that album and eventually overruled the album's other songs that had been my favorites....Still does.....
.....And I remember being in the audience for an anticlimatic Steve Forbert show in Phila, held in the fallout of your salvo of songs that preceded him. I remember your sitting in the dark onstage on a stool with only your cigarette aglow....It's wonderful how replaying great songs can trigger a bunch of great memories.
Thanks! Jack

Hello Carolyne, my name is Amanda and I live in the UK. I first heard your music back in 85 from an old stoner friend of mine. I had to trade him an LP for a recording he made on a cassette tape of your concert you did for a radio show ...I LOVE THIS .. I tried so hard for years to get a copy in the UK to no avail. Hopefully now with internet etc I can hear more of your music and maybe buy a cd or something. Woman you are the BEST....shame you gave it up... Peace, love and Light xx One your friends on facebook has a friend in common with me -- Ray Minhinnett.. not sure if you know him. Best Wishes Amanda

Carol,My beautiful Peach, first this Caryn nut job needs a LOONEY BIN!!!! I am sure you can bring charges against her but the scary thing is that somebody that bookey bookey is running around without a leash!! I am so sorry I haven't called but I had a really BAD funky pain period and between the narcotic patch and the heavy duty pain pills that by the time it was late enough to call you, I had faded to no energy. Kinda better now so I will call you as I hope I am not too late to help you on the Mercury thing (from reading your opening page maybe you don't need my help)! We shall see! Still loving you as much as the first day I ever heard you, KEITH

I thought you would like to know that in November 2009, I am booked in a room on the ship with Caryn MacFayden, who says she is also Carolyn Mas. By chance are you going on the Rick Springfield cruise? I find this very interesting after reading your comment about someone impersonating you. I have pics of her and she looks nothing like you. Sorry for bothering you, but I have to check everything out. Thanks

Carolyne. Brad and I did some work on the Mercury LP's some years back. I lost touch with him. I did send the first two albums on CD to him. The ones he did were compressed and not so good. I thought mine were the best. If you get stuck I can send you my copies to see if they are suitable as a master. FREE service from me to help everyone. Regards from Wellington, New Zealand. John

Thanks Carolyne.

Just bought a record player at a garage sale and I showed my kids how vinyls worked. They were fascinated. It gave me a chance to go through my collection. Just finished listening to your debut album and Hold on. First heard you on the radio, some live concert where you went on a long rant against disco. Must have been a concert in Montreal or Toronto. I still have the tape, unfortunately no tape player. If you know the track I'm talking about point me in the right direction. I lost track of your carreer and never felt right about recording off the radio without supporting the artist in some way. Now that I've found this site I'll be able to make up for it.

"SADIE SAYS", just for Sadie!
I got in trouble at home
I got in trouble at school
I'm doing everything wrong
You know, I feel like a fool
But then Sadie says,
"Boy, don't you worry!"
Sadie says,
"It's gonna be alright."
Sadie is older and knows more than I do
And I believe what Sadie says is right.
I like to go downtown
I go there everyday
I like to raise a little hell
I like to piss away my pay.
Sometimes the smoke gets flying
And I'm down on the floor
Sometimes I say to myself
There must be something more...
But then Sadie says,
"Boy, don't you worry!"
Sadie says,
"It's gonna be alright."
Sadie is older and knows more than I do
And I believe what Sadie says is right.

Saw you perform in the late 70's at Fordham University. A performance I will never forget! I've played your album so often the grooves have worn out. Thanks for sending me the MP3's of those great songs like "still sane and Quote goodbye quote to name a few. I hope your "animal haus" gets enough support to keep going. It is such a worthy cause and I hope those who read this will be inspired to donate also.

Downloaded a bunch of mp3s. Your career is an education in rawknrawl. Some might say you write and rock as good as Springsteen, whome I love. But I might venture the following, that Springsteen is "the male Carolyne Mas". Sorry, that's how I feel. You have been the most overlooked talent in my musical history. In an alternate universe (and trust me, it's nice here ... ) Ms. Mas owns rock 'n' roll.

This is a miracle, finding this site. As an adolescent growing up in small country town Tasmania (the island at the bottom of Australia), your self titled album was my fave - nearly wore it out. Then, in 1981, I lost it...searched for a copy for years. Just downloaded the songs - and still remember every word. Your voice is still the BEST.

Carolyn,
I was the student concert promoter at Appalachian St. University in '79 I think and I brought you and Steve Forbert in for a show. It changed my life meeting you guys and realizing that playing music and writing songs was a reality that I could shoot for. A few years later I signed a record deal with Clive Davis at Arista Records. many years later I still play and write songs. I'd love to send you some of my music just because you had such an impact on me at a important point in my life. I hope to hear from you and I wish you all the luck in the world with your animal rescue program. Take care,

Ms. Mas, I have tried to contact you for several weeks through your e-mail and phone to no avail. I would not keep trying except this is important. We have an FIV pos. cat at my work who is living outside and we have been feeding him. The others who were with him have disappeared, most likely from coyotes, whom are in this area. He is friendly and in otherwise good health. I was told you were a friend of these cats and he definitely needs a home and we all here have cats at home. I would appreciate a reply at your convience. Thank you very much. If we can't find a place for him I'm afraid he will get eaten or be euthanized.

Hi Carolyn, I have been a fan since your first LP. I wish your early stuff was available on CD, however I found some tunes on Amazon and ITunes. I saw you in Bloomington, Indiana in the late 70s/early 80s at a local bar playing to a very enthusiastic college crowd. You even danced in the crowd and we loved it. It is GREAT to see that you are still around. Thanks for some incredible memories. All the best to you.

I saw you @ Massey Hall when you opened for Robert Palmer in Toronto, probably mid-80s. You were incredible! WOW! 29 yrs ago my brother tapes a copy of Stillsane while visiting a fellow DJ at WSLU. I play it relentlessly on my Jeep's tape player, but never heard it on the local radios. I was 15 and never knew your name. The tape left me 13 yrs ago, but I could still remember the tune. I just found you tonight and it was amazing to hear it again. Thanks for the mp3's. I'm just stunned. Thank you, and I'm real glad to have you back again.

The year was 1979..Place: Ft. Lauderdale, Fla/Peaches Records n Tapes...I was a lowly cashier, yes back in the day when we had to search through booklets to confirm the validity of one's credit card...Imagine that...We had 18 Infinity speakers festooned throughout the store...When the last customer left, we'd jack the volume up to infinity...I remember the Cars Candy-0, Talking Heads-Take me to the River...Zeppelin's In Through the Out Door...Nobody compared to you dear...Loved playing your 1st album at Vol. 10 while I swept the floor..That album coincided with a lot of drama in my teenage life and I'll forever remember your songs in that context when I morphed from a wild eyed teen to a sober young man...Thanks for sharing your gift...

Carolyne... sorry I didn't respond to the "request" sooner but everything got so hectic up here with me going back to teaching and the kids starting school. Anyway... I put a small check in the mail this morning to help with the rescue. Best of luck... gregg

Carol, I remember talking some time ago when you were talking about how you couldn't catch a break & you added "Some people SHIT luck!" well lady you have something they don't... Loving Fans! I got rather sad when you sad you were giving up music to work full time with the animals. Could you PLEASE change that to "I am putting music on hold for a while." A check will be on it's way from Bryan (my Partner for 37 years)and I today1 You might not remember but we have 14 cats & feed about 20 strays outsideGod Bless you. your music & your work with the animals! Seeing you at Rock Around the Dock at Navy Pier was worth a miiliom bucks anyway! Lovingly, Keith

re: A Humble Request
Carolyne:
Sorry to hear about this, but I can't afford to contribute - money
is very tight right now.
Plus, I've been laid off, and the music-related thing I'm doing isn't
official yet.
Thanks,
Bill

It has been my great privilege to know Carolyne since she was 15 years old. I might say that I've had the distinct pleasure of being her first singing partner! (or maybe not!) Her voice was always so much larger than her petite frame. I was always amazed that she generated so much power, grace and range. It's sad to think that she has given up performing but as a veteran of forty years in the business myself I can well understand why she feels the way she does. As a fellow animal lover I can only admire her mission to save as many unwanted critters as she can. She really does not owe her public any more of her soul. She has given us quite a legacy of music to cherish. When she asked me to sing with her on her last project I could not resist the joy of singing with her again, and that's what it was, a joy. Carolyne, I only wish you as much happiness as you have given to your many fans around the world.
With much love,

I still love your LP"HOLD ON" which I bought 28 years ago.
I strongly hope that it is become a CD or MP3.
And I purchased it immediately yesterday because I found "Stay True" in iTunes store.
I missed you very and was impressed.
And even youtube was impressed to watch your figure which moved for the first time.
I feel that your music is very splendid.
Please do its best from now on.

There's a lot I could say, but for now: Be well, & where is your animal sanctuary? What kinds of animals do you take care of there? Are you needing/taking donations?
