I am not entirely sure why things like this happen, but someone once told me that Lady Luck was a like statue on a pedestal with her eyes closed, and that she revolves around and around; you have to watch her very carefully, because every once in a while she will open her eyes and look at you, and you must be there to see it. Sort of like a reverse wink of good fortune.

I figured at one point that Lady Luck only looks at you once, and I resigned myself to the fact that she would never see me again; I now know different. We can love more than once, succeed more than once, and dream more than once - hope is always afoot. Let’s not ever forget that, okay?

This is the 2–hour Carolyne Mas special that aired on Casey Radio, Melbourne, Australia on Tuesday, July 23rd. There were some server issues at the time of the broadcast, which prevented listeners in certain parts of the world from hearing the first hour. John Broughton, whose show I was on, was kind enough to email me the show in two parts; I thought to post it here for all to listen. Enjoy!

Part 1

Part 2

DropBox File Sharing Access!

I had an idea while sharing some files with friends, to offer access to fans so they can burn their own CDs/DVDs from my files, or just download them to their mobile devices. I will charge $30 for full access, and this will not change no matter how many files are added in the future.

Currently among these files is a 1979 video of the Bathurst Theater in Toronto, a Chorus TV show from Paris from 1979, the Ovation TV show recorded by Paramount for HBO in 1980 but never released, my promotional videos for Carolyne Mas which were recorded from the VHS tape that my manager had from the record company, as well as all my studio recordings ( US and Germany) and several live recordings like RockPalast, More Mas Hysteria, a 1990 show from Karlsruhe, Germany, a 1989 broadcast from Bremen, Germany, and a 1980 show from the Fast Lane in Asbury Park, New Jersey. I am always adding new files, and fans are welcome to contribute their photos or recordings as well

This is a great idea that lets you save money over CD Baby prices, as well as make custom compilations easily and share files with other fans.

DropBox Access

WPLJ, which was my favorite station in those days, signs off forever on May 31st. The end of an era.

"I really loved the 1979-1980 PLJ. Not everybody was a big name, but everybody was good. There was a female artist at the time, Carolyne Mas, she had an album out and it made our Top 95 album list that year. It was a good time.”

Carolyne Mas Live at the Fast Lane, January 1980

Someone sent me an anonymous gift, a recording of a Carolyne Mas show from the Fast Lane in Asbury Park, New Jersey, in January of 1980. I think this may be the show I played where both Bruce Springsteen and Tony Bennett were in the audience, as I believe that Neon, a band comprised of his sons, opened for me that night. Neon and I were with the same booking agency, so we did a lot of shows together around that time and I got to know all of them pretty well.

This is not the entire show, but there are quite a few tracks and the quality is not bad. I tried a remix, but I am no expert. What I have done is to create a file in DropBox called "Carolyne Mas Fast Lane 1980" with both the mixed and unmixed versions, which are each in two parts. Those who subscribe to DropBox access already, will get this show as soon as I tag you tomorrow. Those who are not subscribed yet, will have the opportunity to do so by visiting my website.

Part 1 of the show contains these songs: Never 2 Without 3, Snow, It's No Secret, All for You, and Sadie Says. Part 2 of the show contains these songs: Stillsane, Baby Please, Go Ahead and Cry Now, and Midnight Confessions. The band lineup is with David Landau (lead guitar), Crispin Cioe (sax), Ivan Elias (bass), Charlie Giordano (keys), and Bobby Chouinard (drums). This was before Hold On was recorded and may have been one of Charlie's first shows with me as he replaced Robbie Condor. My first ex-husband sings harmony on Sadie Says as he did on my first album, and this is one of the few times that he did so at a live show.

I encourage fans to subscribe to my DropBox access, because I never know when special shows like this will be added. Enjoy the music!

DropBox Access

What a sound! What a show! What a night! Carolyne’s music and chops stood on their own. This little spitfire, sang her heart out and played rhythm guitar with guts, gusto and confidence like few men could, and with every song—she meant business! Singing, running, leaping, falling to her knees and belting out each song like it was her last—she drew us all into her world and shared her passions, her soul, her joy and herself." ~ Joe Streno

Read more and view photos...
